Let's embark on a magical herbal adventure! Join us at Fox Haven Farm where your little ones will discover the wonders of herbalism. Together, we'll become nature stewards, identify and harvest kid-friendly herbs, enjoy nature songs and hands-on crafts including herbal goodies to take home. Best suited for ages 3-6, parent participation is a must for the ultimate family fun!

Join the Frederick City Watershed's Forest Technician on a hike to learn about the trees and plants in the watershed, including some invasive species! The trail is flat and will be about one mile long. Wear boots and bring water!

Explore the outdoors with a Maryland Master Naturalist to learn all about Maryland’s birds and how to identify them!

Come out and enjoy learning about the sport of fly fishing. Exposure to Flyfishing equipment including, Fly Rod, Fly Reel, Fly Line. Hands on demonstrations of the basic casts. Flyrods will be available for participants to practice hands on casting.

Spend some time learning the basic casting strokes utilized in fly fishing. This course will be a combination of light coursework and hands on learning of the essential Fly Casts. (Basic Pick Up and Lay Down PULD, Roll Cast, and Constant Tension Cast). Bring your own flyrod if you have one. Flyrods will be available for participants to cast.

Learn about the seeds that you can find outside in spring and summer! At this session of Seed Savers, we’ll learn all about Serviceberry (aka Juneberry) and collect seeds to send to the state nursery! Park at the end of Meadowdale Lane.

A drop-off preschool nature class with activities including movement, games, observation, singing, and exploring! Tuesday lessons are STEM based and Thursday lessons are literacy based. All lessons are nature focused! We will be outside as much as possible, so please dress accordingly. Please drop off child between 9:15-9:30am and pick-up between 11:30-11:45am.

Join us after school at Butterfly Ridge to learn all about nature! We’ll explore environmental science through games, arts & crafts, and hands-on STEAM activities! We’ll spend plenty of time outside, exploring the natural resources in our backyards. Activities include nature walks and outdoor explorations, science experiments, gardening, and more!
